Introduction: One of the reasons Raphael's Madonna and Child paintings were so influential was that there were so many of them. They numbered in the dozens with many more copies done by later artists. Beyond that though, Raphael's Madonnas are admired for the quiet elegance each has in common while nevertheless allowing us to glimpse the intimate, even playful joy shared by both mother and child. Examples of this can be seen in his Alba Madonna and the Madonna of the Chair. However this maternal love is probably most noticeable in his The Holy Family, better known as the Madonna di Loreto. Description: Beautiful handpainted antique painting on porcelain miniature plaque after Rafael. This is an old piece, probably from 19th century or beginning of the last century- A rare find these days! The porcelain plaque in great, absolutely mint condition, no chips or cracks or scratches- Marked with Firenzie Italian mark - as shown- it is Italian origin, KPM quality. The plaque measures 3-3/8"H x 2-6/8"W housed in a 7-1/4"H x 6-1/4"W gilt wood frame. Shipping is FREE within the U.S.
